Young scientists working on Treatment of Tinnitus

Two young students from Ireland have teamed up with their Teacher to setup a business which mainly concern with  Treatment of Tinnitus. The two Physics undergraduates provide treatment for those suffering from Tinnitus as a result of rock concerts, discos, or the use of MP3 players. Their company Restored Hearing treats the condition using Sound Therapy.

A year ago the pair from Ursuline College in Sligo were part of a group that won a runner-up prize at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition for their work on the treatment of the hearing condition Tinnitus.

I cant tell you how pleased Im with this project, maybe this is the begging of the end of Tinnitus, I trust young people who have genuine desire to work for tinnitus. Hopefully someday in near future we will get rid of this Ringing.

My first Year with Tinnitus

Hey Folks,
It was 11th January 2009, when I first encountered ringing in the ear, before that never heard of it and had no clue what tinnitus was. But all happened so quickly that it made me mad almost. My tinnitus was caused by ear allergy. What I couldn't have known is that one day I would deeply yearn for the one note I would never hear again - the note of "no sound."

Over the first few weeks, I begged doctors to help me. My journey of hope began with visits to family doctors, referrals, and audiologists. Weeks turned into months with more research leading me to more doctors, shamans, and dozens of healers around the Country.

Believing no one in the world could understand my physical pain, or my emotional burden, I turned to the Internet only to find chat groups with more stories of chronic depression and misery. It became clear I wasn't alone in my suffering, but it didn't make me feel better about my situation
